It was once the centre of the Ottoman Empire. Nowadays, it is a democratic, secular, unitary, constitutional republic with an ancient cultural heritage. The country has part of its territory in Asia and the other part in Europe. The nation’s father, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, is one of the country’s biggest personalities. The population of Turkey is of around 75 million people.
