Translation Associations in France
The ATLF was founded in 1973, after a split from the SFT, which was too technical translation-oriented. The ATLF is therefore an association for literary translators aiming to defend the interest of the literary translators and then standing by the authors.
- ASTRADUL - Association des Traducteurs Diplômés de l'Université de Londres http://www.astradul.org/ Astradul is a not for profit association of French–English and English–French translators. All our members hold translation qualifications from the University of London.
- ATAA - Association des Traducteurs / Adaptateurs de l'Audiovisuel http://www.traducteurs-av.org/ The ATAA is the French Association of Audiovisual Translators. It unites professional translators in dubbing, subtitling, voice-over and subtitling for hearing impaired. It was founded in 2006. - ATLAS - Assises de la Traduction Littéraire en Arles http://www.atlas-citl.org/ ATLAS is a cultural association under the law of 1901, with its headquarters in Arles, France. It is aiming to promote literary translation as a criative activityand to help specialists and literary translation enthusiasts meet.
- CETIECAP - Compagnie des Experts Traducteurs et Interprètes en Exercice près la Cour d'Appel de Paris http://www.ceticap.com/ The CETIECAP provides certified translation, certified interpretation, and/or certified translation and interpretation services.
- Chambre des Experts-Traducteurs et Traducteurs Jurés de l'Est http://www.traducteursdelest.asso.fr/ This Translators' Association site based in the East of France, is a non-profit association created in 1930
- CRETA - Chambre Régionale des Experts Traducteurs Assermentés d'Alsace http://www.creta-france.com/ "C.R.E.T.A. is a fully recognised professional association of court interpreters and official translators sworn in at the Court of Appeal of Colmar, France.
- ELRA - The European Language Resources Association http://www.elra.info/ ELRA was founded in 1995. - École Supérieure d’Interprètes et de Traducteurs http://www.univ-paris3.fr/esit/ The École Supérieure d’Interprètes et de Traducteurs (ESIT) was founded in 1957. Linked to Paris III La Sorbonne, it provides its students with a License with three master cursus, whatever their previous studies: conference interpreting, general, technical and economical translation, french sign language interpreting. The ESIT also provides training for further graduation in Translatology.

- Portulan http://www.portulan.org/ This is an association promoting the international visibility of the Portuguese-speaking countries.
- SFT - The French Association of Translatorswww.sft.fr The SFT (Société française des traducteurs) was founded in 1947 to defend the interests of translators and the translation profession and is a founding member of the International Federation of Translators (FIT), a Category A UNESCO organization. The SFT today counts more than 1,300 members, making it the largest professional translators’ union in France.
