It is a country located at the crossroads of Central and Southeastern Europe, on the Lower Danube. Romania’s population is of almost 20 million inhabitants, which makes it the seventh most populated country in Europe. The regional administration of Romania comprises 41 counties and the municipality of Bucharest, the nation’s capital city.

One of the most important translation associations in the country is ATR. Another Romanian translators association is the one that concerns interpreting and translation companies, AFIT. There is also the translators association that unites authorised translators, UNTAR.
