Translators Associations Europe: FTS

The largest professional translators' union in France

French translators associationThe French Translators Society (FTS) was founded in 1947 with the purpose of defending the interests of translators and the translation profession.

This translators association is a founding member of the International Federation of Translators (FIT) and counts more than 1.300 members.

This number makes SFT the largest professional translators' union in France. Also, its members are very diverse. SFT's membership includes in-house and self-employed language service providers as well as literary translators.

The role of the SFT is to serve as a single point of contact for language service providers of all categories, the users of language services and government agencies.

On SFT's website, you can find a language service provider, download resource documents in English, subscribe to Traduire magazine – only in French edition –, order SFT products and register for SFT training sessions and other events.

France is famous for its literature, food, art, wines, and fashion industry. The French language is spoken all throughout its territory, that counts 62,3 million habitants, and in other countries like Belgium, Canada, Rwanda, Cameroon or Haiti. It is the tenth most spoken language in the world.

Keep in mind that, in total, French is spoken by 129 million people.
