Cookies and web beacons

LEXIS uses cookies in certain areas of its websites. Cookies are files which store information on the User’s hard drive or browser, allowing the websites to recognize you and remember that you have already visited them.
The cookies help LEXIS understand which sections of the website are the most popular, enabling LEXIS to view the pages which the User accesses, as well as the period of time that he/she spends browsing those pages. By conducting such studies, LEXIS is able to adapt the websites to the User's needs and to supply him/her with a more customized User experience. For instance, cookies ensure that the information provided during the User’s next visit will correspond to his/her preferences.

The User may set up the browser to accept or reject all cookies or to be warned whenever a cookie is sent: each browser is different. In order to change his/her cookies preferences, the User must check the Help menu. For instance, in Microsoft Internet Explorer, the User may deactivate or delete all cookies, by selecting Tools / Internet Options, and review the privacy options by selecting Exclude cookies. However, the User must be aware that these websites are designed for operating with cookies; deactivation of any of them might affect their performance and prevent the User from taking full advantage of their potential.

LEXIS does not share cookies with third parties, including external data suppliers or websites.
These websites and the communication generated from their use and/or registration, such as promotional emails, might contain electronic images called web beacons. Web beacons generally operate together with cookies, and may be used to: 
- Count the number of visitors to these websites
- Verify if User has been interacting via email or has clicked on certain hyperlinks, for instance, when these consist of terms and conditions for participating in competitions
- Determine the success of a Marketing campaign or competition
- Establish interest levels for specific items in these websites or related to certain products and services available
- Evaluate whether propaganda and competitions result in sales
- Understand the popularity of a product or service, as well as the variation in the interest levels
