Hungarian is the country’s official language, being the most widely spoken non Indo-European language in the continent. Around 10 million people live in Hungary. The Danube region as well as the capital, Budapest, contribute to the fact that Hungary is one of the thirty most popular tourist destinations in the world, attracting 8.6 million tourists a year.

One of the most important interpreting and translation associations in the country is MFTE. Another Hungarian translators association is the one that unites literary translators, MEGY. There is also a translators association joining translation companies, MFE.
