Switzerland: Translators Associations from the country of Hermann Hesse

Translation Associations EuropeSwitzerland is famous worldwide for its snowy landscapes, but its also become known for being the world’s capital for money and watches. Lake Geneva is one of the largest lakes in Europe, uniting Switzerland and France. The country, in its full name the Swiss Confederation, is a federal republic consisting of 26 cantons, with Bern as the centre of political decision. Language-wise, it is divided in three (four with Romansch): German, French and Italian speaking population. As a whole, it has 8 million inhabitants.

Lexis estimates there are at least 8 national translators associations in Switzerland.

One of the most important translation associations in the country is LinQua, which is a union of quality translators. Another Swiss translators association is the one that concerns intercultural mediation, INTERPRET. There is also the interpreters and translators association and ASTJ, the sworn translators association. In addition, ASTTI is a terminologists, interpreters and translators association, AIT is a translators association that gathers students of the field and CTL is a translation association based in the University of Lausanne.

VZGDÜ is a Swiss translators association specialised in court interpreters and translators from the region of Zurich.
